SUMMARY
To carry out the legislative intent for Family Resource/Youth Service Centers – KRS 156.497 for the Logan County School System.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate the Center’s activities with schools, agencies, children, youth and families.
2. Develop and maintain a working relationship with the community agencies, schools and families.
3. Attend Advisory Council Meetings and report on Center activities.
4. Attend conferences, meetings and trainings that pertain to the job.
5. Attend School Board and SBDM meetings when needed.
6. Supervise support staff if applicable.
7. Conduct parent education and training.
8. Provide programs for children, youth and their families in identified areas such as alcohol/drugs, life skills, literacy, health related issues, etc.
9. Counseling/Consultation in needed areas.
10. Inform Community and schools of Center’s services and activities.
11. Prepare required State FRYSC Reports.
12. Coordinate and assist in case conferences with families, agencies and schools.
13. Coordinate existing community services with children, youth or family need.
14. Act as an advocate for children, youth and families in seeing that services are provided.
15. Carry out any other duties that are needed by the Center such as home visits, arranging meetings, speaking to groups, etc.
16. Direct and supervise Center applied grants and programs.

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
FRYSC DIRECTOR
Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
This type of work involves sitting a portion of the time, but will involve walking or standing for extended periods.
Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far visual acuity, depth perception providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university with a major in human services, counseling, or a closely related field.
Experience:
Four years of responsible professional human services, counseling or FRYSC experience.
